Strange Minecraft sound?

I just joined a friend's realm and I'm at depth 12 branch mining and hear this weird snort followed by a llama like maybe a yelp or bark? Is it possible to hear surface sounds so deep or is there something I should be fearing in the deep underground?

Mind you that I got wrecked chasing a giggle which turned out to be a poison-chucking psycho witch who was water stuck in a corner of a cave so now I'm a little cautious chasing sounds.

I've already searched the wiki and couldn't find a sound board. Maybe I was using bad search parameters, I don't know.
